Welcome to the Serpent River First Nation website!
Anishinaabemowin Word of the Week:
Gisinaw
(Cold)
Welcome to the Serpent River First Nation. We are a community located on the North Shore of Lake Huron and are signatory to the 1836 Bondhead Treaty and the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850. We are Anishnabek and affiliated to the Three Fires Confederacy.
We are honored to bring you information about our community, updates, and scheduling on latest events, and a place for staying connected.
In this fast-paced global community that we share, it's important that we use this information highway to stay current and to reach to our Citizens and friends in different parts of the planet!
We are a community with a rich history, a strong plan going forward and a future that is in the capable hands of a Youth population that is flourishing and growing strong.
Our Citizens are many and located around in various parts of Turtle Island. Our people also live in other places abroad. This is a modern-age virtual campfire that will help us stay connected and give light to what's happening here back in Genaabaajing.
Along with email, social media, postal service, and telephone, this website will provide yet another opportunity to share direct information. Our "away at school" students and those on work placements and careers away from home will have another method and opportunity to participate. Our Cultural & Spritual Identity is rooted in the Anishnabek culture; one of the cornerstones of our history is our value of sharing.
The designers of this site are a small team with a big vision to keep us on the latest edge of new information and updates. We will have someone in the drivers seat for this site at all times so that changes and events can be regularly uploaded and modified when needed.
We welcome your comments and feedback and will share them where possible when we have appropriate permission. Access to other links and places on the information highway can be found here as well. So enjoy your visit, participate where you can and please carry away with you good messages and information that you say can be found at www.serpentriverfn.ca
